Setting up a Custom 404 Destination

BL.INK offers the ability to set a custom landing page for links that have been deleted or do not exist in an account.

The custom 404 destination setting in BL.INK allows users to set a URL that is used when a visitor clicks on or navigates to a link that has been deleted or is broken. All deleted and broken links under the specified domain will redirect to the long URL set on the 404-page destination.

Users may also set a home page URL in BL.INK, where visitors will be redirected to if they click on or navigate to the domain without a keyword, or click on a link that has been archived. For more information on setting up a home page, check out this article.

Configuring the 404 Destination in BL.INK

To add a link to a custom 404 destination in BL.INK, start by logging in to the BL.INK account. If there are multiple domains in the account, make sure to select the domain from the drop-down menu at the top of the dashboard.

Click on the Admin button on the left navigation, and then click Root pages.

Enter the URL in the field for 404 Page Destination. This is the page that visitors will be redirected to when navigating to a deleted or broken link.

Click Update to save the changes. This should take effect almost immediately. If the changes are taking a while, try clearing the cache or checking from a smartphone.

  TIP:

Users may also use a BL.INK short link for the 404 destination to keep track of how often it is click or to easily redirect where it is routed.
